About Us
 Jessica
Casey Designs started as a collaboration of two good friends raising
small children attempting to find a creative
outlet for their artistic talents ... the children are grown,
we've moved apart, and, like the Phoenix, the business rises ...
Much
of my life has been devoted to some form of fiber artistry as
a quilter and handweaver. A life-altering back injury sent the
looms to the attic, so I dug out the fabric and started quilting
again. And, I found a much cherished box of beads under the
bed
that started the creative juices running.
Years
ago my best friend and college roommate, Carol, never let me
out without eyeliner ... today I never go out without jewelry.
It finishes the outfit, defines the look, and adds a level of
sophistication
and beauty. My jewelry is designed to appeal to all ages ...
I love color...gemstones...crystals...lampworked beads...pearls...enjoy!

Jewelry Care
Handcrafted jewelry
pieces need the same level of care as any other fine jewelry. Gemstones
have different care needs depending on their
hardness, but all should be kept in a clean, dust and lint free environment
and laid flat. Sterling silver and gold may be kept sealed in individual
bags to help prevent tarnish, or stored in anti-tarnish paper.
Pearls do not like perfume, hair spray, or body oils…..please keep them
clean, put them on last before you leave, and gently wipe them with a
soft cloth when you take them off. Do not use jewelry cleaner on them.
Chlorine, salt water, and sunscreen do not mix with any jewelry.
Soap and water is the preferred method of cleaning as most gemstones
are insulted when cleaned with commercial cleaners. If needed, a soft
toothbrush may be used. Ultrasonic cleaners are not gemstone friendly
for the most part. All jewelry likes the touch of a soft lint-free cloth.

Bicone – a ‘diamond’ shape formed by two cones base to base with points
at either end
Corrugated beads –
beads with texture resembling corduroy
Filigree – lace- like gold or silver ornamental work
Lampworked
beads – glass beads made by winding molten glass on a rod
and creating designs with other colors
Lobster
claw clasps resemble a lobster claw. This is a type of Trigger
Clasp where the lobster shaped part of the clasp uses a lever and spring
to open and close the clasp.
Millefiori – Italian for ‘1000 flowers’ – made by fusing several glass
rods arranged so that the cross section makes a flower or pattern
Post
earrings have a straight post at the back that goes through the
ear. Earring backs are needed to keep the earring from falling out.
Rondelles –
‘squashed’ round beads that look rounded on the outside and flattened.
Toggle
clasps have two parts – a bar and a loop. The bar is placed
through the loop and rests on it to keep it from coming apart.
Trigger
clasps utilize a lever and spring to open and close the arm
of the clasp, just like lobster claw clasps.
